1. Register yourself and/or your guests online,

2. Pay the fees and charges using a credit card,

3. Upon confirmation of your payment, OLA will send you a Registration No./Receipt by email,

4. Bring a photo id of yourself or your guests (if you are not attending Founder’s).

5. Collect your Pass(es) at the OLA Registration Desk at Lovedale during Founder’s.

Verifying OLs:

The need to validate membership is a pressing requirement from many OLs. We want to be very certain that no non-OL registers on the website and gains access to the details of the others. We have followed a strict policy of verifying member’s email ids through Batch Reps, in the initial days, almost unknown to the members. Wherever we were doubtful -- where the registered email id did not match with the list given by batch reps -- we marked copies of our emails to both ids. We hoped that when an OL who hadn’t registered sees an email mentioning his registration, would raise it with us or his Batch Rep.

Deepak, we can’t issue your pass only based on the photo you had uploaded. Simple, imagine this: what if, someone logs in as Deepak Johar and uploads a photo of himself and turns up at the Founder’s registration desk? The photo will match him for sure. Should we issue the pass and membership card(with his photo) to him? We need some other proof, that you are who you say you are.

Security at School:

The photo id is also a requirement from School. The School has issued photo id cards along with their invitations to Parents and others and have mentioned it as part of the rules printed on the invites. On OLA President,Bala’s insistence, the School allowed us to register guests of OLs and waived the requirement of photo ids for Guests.

The OLA clearly isn’t aware of and doesn’t have the powers to debate security arrangements being made for someone in Z-Category. We are communicating this so that you are not inconvenienced or, worse, stopped at the gate since you don’t have a photo id.

Baring very few (count them on my hands) who have raised some issues on this, everyone else has been very cooperative. After all, we don’t ask questions (about security, policy, procedure etc.) when we are asked for a photo id at airports and on trains? You can show us any form of photo id –passports, PAN cards, driver’s license, photo credit / debit cards, even Club membership cards – just about any card from a reputed / known organization that has your photo and name on it!

Some of our senior OLs, amongst others, were more comfortable in sending us their photos by courier. Jawahar (OLA VP) has very patiently scanned and uploaded each photo individually. We are doing the best we can, what more can you expect from us?

I have heard disturbing news that some of us could be creating an impression that only if you register online with OLA’s new website http://www.oldlawrencian.in will one be permitted to attend Founder’s. This is not true.

ALL OLs will be permitted to attend Founder’s.

School has given OLA the freedom to register OLA members. In order to effectively manage the rush and make it convenient for all, the OLA has created a facility for pre-registering online. Of course, it is not mandatory that you should register online. If you don’t or couldn’t register online, you can always register in person during Founder’s.

Since the process of registration, verification of membership, collection of payment, issuing of passes etc could take a bit of time, we are requesting you to register online for OLA and Founder’s.

I am certain you will agree that this is a far more easier and convenient for all.

Photo Display during 150th

The OLA proposes to organise a display of photographs at School during the 150th Founder’s Day between April 30th and May 2nd 2008. We propose to arrange several 4x4 pinup boards for each batch to display their photographs.

We request you to take the time to dig out School photos from your old albums or collect them from your batch mates, make copies, caption them and bring them to school when you come up for Founder’s. If you are not coming up, please send the photograph copies through a friend or to the OLA directly. (Please do not send OLA original photos since we do not have the resources to return them.)

We intend to archive these photographs and use them later in our newsletters, website and other OLA events.

The date and venue of the photo exhibit will be announced soon.

This will be a good way for all OLs to see School and other OLs during different times. We require you support in collecting a large number of photographs to make this a very memorable and a very, very special display.

Online Registration:

I thank all those who have taken efforts to register themselves with the OLA's website http://www.oldlawrencian.in/ . As you are well aware that this registration is a prerequisite for registering online for Founder's and the OLA Dinner. If you haven't registered yourself as yet, please do so at the earliest since we would like to complete the process soon.

Activation Emails:

We have started activating the valid registrations. If you haven't received an activation email as yet, you could expect to receive it within a week's time. The priority for activation is (i) Existing members, (ii) new members who have paid through PayPal, (iii) New Members who have sent a cheque / DD.

Those who have received the activation email with a login id and password can now log into the website and register for Founder's and the OLA Dinner.

Please note that he payment option for this is only though PayPal using your credit card (no DD / cheque option available here).

Invalid Registrations:

We will, after clearing a major portion of the valid and verified registrations, start sending out "deactivation" emails to those that have insufficient / invalid / junk data. You will then have to re-register on the website. I request all to be a little more patient and careful while registering. We are being slowed down considerably by such invalid registrations (each such registration has to be handled offline individually and it takes a lot time and effort to do this).

OLA - FAQs on REGISTRATION:

1. I faced and error during the online registration. Do I need to register again?

At the end of the registration, a completion message will be displayed on the screen. If you did not reach this point, your registration is probably incomplete.

If you could not successfully complete the online registration, please try and register all over again.


2. Do I need to take a print out of the confirmation mail (Pre-registration)?

We do not require you to bring a print out of the Pre-Registration confirmation email.


3. What type of Photo Id will you accept?

We require you to show some form of photo id before you collect your OLA membership and Founder’s passes. We will accept driver’s licence, passport, PAN card, credit card with photo etc (what you would use in an airport.)


4. What if I don’t have a Photo Id with me when I come for Founder’s?

We require a photo id to be absolutely sure that we aren’t giving you passes that someone else may have paid for. If you don’t have any id with you, we may require an OL know to the present office bearers of the OLA to identify you on a case by case basis. If not, you will be required to pay the Registration fees again. Sorry.


5. I can’t remember which year I joined the OLA? Is this information mandatory for registering?
This information is not mandatory now. If you couldn’t register because of this, please try and register again.


6. Can I register during Founder’s.

Of course you can. However, if you did register online, you will help us reduce the delays and long queues and make it convenient for all.



Guests & Family:


7. Three other members of my family will be attending the Founders who are not OLs. Do they need to be registered?

Registration for all guests attending Founder’s is compulsory.

All non-OLA members – OLs who are not registered with the OLA, and family, friends and other guests of OLs – must also register themselves with the School for Founder’s.

To make it more convenient for OLA members, the OLA website will accept registrations for their guests and family.

Please note that, even though there is no Registration charge for guests, the OLA will charge Rs 50/- as total transaction charge to cover, in part, the expense related to online registration.

Further, even OLs who are not attending Founder’s can register only their guests through our website.


8. I left School after Class 8. I am not sure if I need to register myself again as an OLA member. Please help.

If you left School before the 12th, it is unlikely that you were automatically enrolled in the OLA. I suggest that you register yourself as a member of the OLA. If you are confident that you were indeed registered by School, then I request [??]


9. Is there anything else overseas OLs, their families and guests need to know prior to arriving at LSL? Not much other than Registration.


10. I do believe that I am an OLA member but I don’t remember when I paid the Membership fees and unfortunately, I do not have any records to show that I am a member? Do I need to register myself and pay the fees again?

The OLA has very limited records handed over to us over the years. We have tried our best to consolidate and collate all the information available. We have traced records for a vast number of OLA members and if you do believe that you were indeed registered, we request you to indicate that you are a existing member of the OLA when you register online.

We shall verify our records and, if your name is on the list, we will accept your registration without any additional fees. Otherwise, you will be required to register yourself as an OLA member.


11. I received an email from you rejecting my Membership stating that my name wasn’t in your records. However, I do have an old receipt from the OLA.

If you can establish with documents that you are a member of the OLA, then we will review it on a case to case basis. Please send us a photocopy of all the available records for our perusal.



FEES & CHARGES:


12. Are there any other entry fees to be paid for the various functions including the OLA Dinner?

There are 4 different types of Fees the OLA will be collecting:

i. OLA Membership + charges

ii. 150th Founder’s Registration Fees + Charges for OLs

iii. 150th Founder’s Registration for Guests & Family of OLA members (only charges)

iv. OLA Dinner (excluding Drinks and beverages)

You must be a Registered OLA member to register online for Founder’s.

The OLA Dinner is optional.


13. Do I have to pay for the OLA dinner if I won’t be able to attend it?

The OLA Dinner is optional. But we do hope you will join the revelry and enjoy OLA’s hospitality.


COLLECTING MY ID CARD:


14. What if I am not Attending Founder’s. How do I collect my OLA Membership Id card?

The OLA membership Id card will be handed over to you in person if you are coming up for Founder’s in Apr / May 2008.

If you are not attending Founder’s, then you Id card will be couriered to you anywhere in India. The charges for courier within India are not charged separately.

If you live abroad, then the cost of courier will be extra and will be collected separately from you.



MISSING EMAIL:


15. I didn’t enter my e-mail address in the field provided. (I had read one of your earlier e-mails that you will send the username and password by e-mail.) What do I do?

Please email / call us separately and we will update your profile on your behalf and activate your account as an exception.

But, please be patient since we need to attend to all the other registration first.

Over 500 OLs have already registered online. If you haven’t registered, please do so soon.

I request you to circulate this to all your batch and to urge them to register as well. (Please note that the OLA membership registration is a prerequisite for Founder’s Registration, so its important that you register at the earliest.)

All you need to do is:

OLA Registration:

1. Log into http://www.oldlawrencian.in/

2. Click on “New Member” under the Login (top left corner)

3. Enter your registration information correctly -- especially Name, Batch, email id. ( NOTE: Please avoid entering incorrect / junk data to avoid any delay in your activation.)

4. Where it asks for “Existing Member”, please indicate “Yes” if you are already a member of the OLA (you don’t have to pay any amount) or “No” if you wish to register for the first time.

5. If you are a new member, then you would have to pay the membership fees of Rs 1,000/- + Charges of Rs 200/- using our online payment gateway PayPal with you credit card (Keep one ready).

6. Upload a passport size photograph of yourself (keep this ready on your computer)

7. Wait for our email activating your account. It will have your login in id and password.

Founder’s Registration:

8. Login to http://www.oldlawrencian.in/ again (after you haveregistered as above)

9. Enter you login id and password in the Login Box (left corner)

10. Click on Events --> Founders (or on the picture of School on the home page)

11. Register yourself and guests for Founders and the OLA Dinner (keep a credit card ready)

12. Pay the Founder’s charges through our online payment gateway PayPal using your credit card

13. Note the registration & payment details for your reference (probably print out a copy if you can)

14. Bring a photo id to school when you come up for Founder’s

15. Collect your passes at the registration desk in Lovedale.
